Flavia, a branch of the Mars company, supplies a variety of coffee and tea products to both brewers and consumers. Flavia offers six distinct coffee blends, which vary in their nutritional value. Coffee is made from coffee beans and water, and Flavia boasts using only the most natural and freshest coffee beans possible, according to their website.

Caffeine

Caffeine content differs with each Flavia coffee blend. Their Kenya mixture contains the least caffeine with 60 mg per serving, while the Sumatra blend contains the most at 140 mg per serving. Both the Colombia and Costa Rica varieties contain 90 mg per serving, and the ALTERRA House and Ethiopia blends each contain 70 mg per serving.

Calories

Flavia coffee is a low-calorie beverage. Each of the six blends of Flavia coffee contains just 2 calories per serving. Calories can be an indication of how much energy a particular substance provides to the body, and adult bodies typically need about 2,000 calories per day. While Flavia does provide a feeling of increased energy, it is because of its stimulating effects on the brain and not because it is an adequate source of calories.

Carbohydrate

Flavia coffee contains just a trace of carbohydrates in each cup. Carbohydrate is a macronutrient that can contribute a significant source of energy to the body. Flavia coffee contains about 0.3 g of carbohydrate per serving. The body needs at least 225 g of carbohydrate per day, advises MayoClinic.com.

Protein

Similar to carbohydrate, Flavia coffee contains just a trace of protein. Each of Flavia's six coffee blends contains about 0.2 g of protein per serving. Most adults require at least 50 g of protein per day for energy metabolism and normal tissue growth and repair, according to MayoClinic.com.

Recommendations

Caffeine is one of the most widely consumed beverages in the world, but too much of this beverage can be associated with negative health effects, the American Heart Association cautions. Caffeine increases urine production and can cause a state of dehydration. Withdrawal from caffeine can lead to psychological effects such as depression and anxiety. To avoid adverse health consequences, no more than 1 to 2 cups are recommended each day.
