Specifications

The Ping ISI-K iron product line features a wide range of irons from 1-iron to lob wedge, depending on your set preference. The 3-iron features a loft of 20.5 degrees and a standard lie angle unless otherwise customized. The 5-iron is set at a 27 degree loft and a standard lie. The 9-iron features 42.5 degrees of loft. Ping offers a wide range of shaft options including the JZ Series Steel, ZZ-65 Steel, and DG-Steel shaft lines. Each shaft is available in a variety of different flexes ranging from regular to extra-stiff.

Ping ISI-K Features

The Ping ISI-K irons are geared towards the mid-to-high handicap player as a game improvement iron. Each clubhead is cast in a 17-4 stainless steel composite that gives the club a dull, metallic appearance. Each clubhead is also perimeter weighted in order to offer you increased forgiveness on shots not hit in the center of the clubface. The Ping ISI-K irons also feature a slightly larger hitting area that can benefit the weaker player, along with a low center of gravity to assist in getting the ball into the air quicker. The clubheads and shaft combine to offer a high moment of inertia, which increases your swing speed immediately before impact.

Trajectory

The Ping ISI-K irons 6-sand wedge offer a higher loft angle than standard which can be helpful when hitting into a green as your golf ball will have more spin than a standard set of irons. However, the loft angles on the longer irons, 3-iron through 5-iron, do feature a standard loft degree. Therefore, the trajectory on these clubs will be less forgiving in comparison to the lower irons in your bag.

Considerations

In order to get the most benefit from your new set if irons you may wish to have them fitted to your individual golf swing and height. Many stores offer this service, including Golf Galaxy, but Ping Golf also offers customized fitting via their website. The Ping ISI-K irons are also available in graphite shafts in order to match your preference.
