What Is the Difference Between the Old & the New Perfect Pushup?

Both the old and new versions of the Perfect Pushup are available on the official website. The older version is now referred to as the Perfect Pushup Original and the newer version is called the Perfect Pushup V2. Both models serve the same function, but the V2 model offers some extra features.

Function

According to the official website, the Perfect Pushup was developed to avoid the wrist pain and risk of injury associated with standard push-ups. The rotating handles allow your wrists and arms to rotate naturally. The manufacturer claims this feature also engages more muscles. However, the American Council on Exercise, a nonprofit fitness organization, published a study in 2009 in its journal "ACE Fitness Matters" stating that it is the elevated position of your hands that activates more muscles, not the rotating handles. You could theoretically achieve similar results by holding dumbbell handles while doing a push-up.

Styling

The Perfect Pushup V2 has a sleeker design than the original. The unit is curvier with less bulk, and the base is thinner with rounded edges. The Perfect Pushup original comes in only one color scheme. It is black with red rubber on the bottom. The V2 is available in two color schemes: a black base with red handles or a black base with black handles and red accents.

Design

The handle on the V2 model is wider and softer than the original handle; it also has small grooves. These features provide a more comfortable and more secure grip. The tread on the bottom of the V2 base is inspired by off-road tires. It offers better gripping with the floor and a nonslip feature. The base of the V2 model Perfect Pushup is wider and heavier than the original version for a more stable and solid feel, even on wide-grip push-ups.

Construction

The Perfect Pushup V2 has 30 percent more ball bearings than the original, and the internal mechanism of the product has been reinforced. The additional bearings provide a smoother, less tight rotation, meaning the device turns easier than the original model, resulting in a more natural, relaxed rotation of your wrist joints.
