How to Create a Diet Plan Shopping List

Planning ahead and making a shopping list is essential when you are trying to lose weight. It makes you take the time to consider what you need to stay on track and lose those extra pounds you want to shed so badly. It also prevents you from walking in the store and wandering around aimlessly, finding yourself tempted by food that is your downfall. Creating your shopping list is not difficult; it is simply a matter of having a plan before you do it, much like your diet.

Step 1

Choose your diet plan. The diet you choose governs your list. Foods for a low-calorie diet will differ from foods for a low-carb diet.

Step 2

Make your list according to the stage of your diet. As you progress through your diet, the foods you can eat will differ as well. On a low-carb diet, you will add more foods gradually. Look at the stage carefully before deciding what to buy.

Step 3

Take a peek at your cookbook. Cookbooks are a help no matter what diet you are on. Look through yours and plan your meals, writing down the ingredients you will need as you go.

Step 4

Walk through your kitchen and peek in your cupboards and refrigerator. Before putting the final touches on your list, make sure the food doesn't have a home in your kitchen already. Foods, such as produce, doesn't live long; don't buy more than you need.

Step 5

Look through the store's current advertisement for the week. Most grocery stores mail out a flyer with their new sales for the week; glance at this ad and adjust your list.
