Indigestion -- when your body does not process food the way it should -- often appears as bloating, gas, acid reflux or constipation. Lemon may help to alleviate these symptoms as well as provide your body with vitamin C which may strengthen your immunity. Drinking lemonade after a meal to help alleviate your indigestion works similarly to the cooling effects of drinking lemonade on a hot day. However, lemon water is not a replacement for traditional medical treatment, so if you have persistent indigestion, make sure to speak with your doctor to determine the underlying reason.

Step 1

Fill a glass with room temperature water.

Step 2

Add 1 tsp. of freshly squeezed lemon juice to the water. Add 1 tsp. of bottled lemon juice if fresh lemons are not available.

Step 3

Add 1 tsp. of ginger to the mixture; stir.

Step 4

Add 2 tsp. of honey and mix well.

Step 5

Drink your lemon water mixture after a heavy meal.
