Oatmeal is touted for its cholesterol-lowering benefits. High in insoluble fiber, oatmeal is typically recommended as part of a healthy diet to reduce the amount of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) in the blood. However, there are plenty of other options that can assist in this endeavor for those who do not eat oatmeal. Increasing your fiber intake and reducing fat consumption will lower your LDL cholesterol levels, and increase your good cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein).
