Protein Diet for Quick Weight Loss

Following a high protein diet can help you lose weight quickly. The 2004 "Journal of the American College of Nutrition" published a study that reported high protein diets contributed to an increase in participants' metabolic rate and helped keep them satiated longer. Proponents of protein diets used to recommend eating all the bacon, eggs, butter and cheese you wanted. Concerns about intake of saturated fat led to more healthful approaches.

Tips and Warnings

  • For a change of pace, include some tofu in your recipes. Soy is the only complete vegetable protein.
  • If you find your energy levels wane during a high protein diet, slightly increase your consumption of carbohydrates to boost your reserves.
