When you are an athletic trainer you will supply treatment for health care or physically active individuals with prevention, recognition and rehabilitation of injuries that are caused during physical activity. You work as a physician's assistant, and are expected to use your skills and knowledge to perform urgent care and create a program for the patient that will treat and restore the injury.

Lynchburg College

The athletic trainer course at Lynchburg College in Virginia is an accredited program that provides you with the experience necessary for a real-world career. You will have the ability to assist with the athletic team's injuries, which will help you learn the philosophy for prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries, and illnesses. You will get the chance to put your skills to the test in several area clinics and local colleges. Doing so will help develop you into an entry-level certified athletic trainer.

Manchester College

Located in North Manchester, Indiana, Manchester College has a training course leading to a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in athletic training. This athletic training program will shape and develop you into a skilled, professional athletic trainer. You will participate in a specialized course that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education Programs. You will complete this course in a classroom as well as through clinical learning.

Alma College

Alma College, settled in Alma, Michigan, has been nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education for more than five years. When you enroll in Alma's AT course you will be taught all the essentials necessary to succeed as an athletic trainer. You will learn through educational and clinical experiences in an exciting and positive atmosphere. Once the necessary requirements are fulfilled for the athletic training major, you will be able to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree. Alma provides you with real-world experiences to prepare you for your future career.

College of Charleston

In Charleston, Virginia, the five-year athletic training course at the College of Charleston gives you the chance to be educated in a classroom setting and hands-on clinical learning as well. You will be required to complete classes for anatomy, human and exercise physiology, kinesiology, orthopedic evaluation and assessment, pathology and treatment of illness, therapeutic modalities and therapeutic exercise, pharmacology, sports nutrition, counseling and professional development. To prepare you for your athletic training career, you have the opportunity to help in college and high school sports medicine settings along with sports medicine physical therapy clinics, and physician offices and clinics.
