Perhaps your badminton racket grip is showing signs of wear and tear. Perhaps you need more traction to prevent your racket from slipping. Or maybe you want to increase or decrease the size of your racket's grip. Replacing a badminton racket grip tape could help solve any of these issues. Grip replacement is a fairly quick and simple way to give you more confidence in your racket, which in turn may help improve your game.
Step 1
Remove the old grip tape from the badminton racket. If there's a staple holding the grip tape at the end, pull it out with a needle nose pliers. Clean the handle with rubbing alcohol to take off any remaining adhesive.
Step 2
Hold the badminton racket with the handle up and the racket part down. Peel off the grip tape backing about 12 inches. Position the tapered end of the tape on the butt cap. If you are right-handed, attach and pull the grip tape to the right; if you're left-handed, attach and pull it to the left.
Step 3
Hold the racket head against your hip or leg as you hold the grip tape with one hand and rotate the badminton racket with the other. Overlap the tape about 1/16 of an inch as you go around, spiraling up around the handle at a slight angle.
Step 4
Remove the tape backing a little at a time as you wrap. Wrap the tape until you wrap up a bit over the end of the handle.
Step 5
Draw a straight line on the grip tape at the top edge of the handle with a pen. Peel back the tape and cut along the drawn line with a scissors. Rewrap the grip tape on the handle so you have a straight edge on the end.
Step 6
Put finishing tape over the end of the grip tape to secure it.
