How to Make Leg Weights

Working out at home can be convenient and cost effective. You can opt to buy new or used equipment, or simply make your own. Getting creative is where you can add fun to workout time.

Tips and Warnings

  • If you don't want to leave the rice or beans in the bag, you can pour them into the fabric sleeve once you have assembled the first three sides. You can use socks to make your weights if you don't want to fool with cutting and taping fabric. Just tie a knot in the end when you have filled the sock.

Things You'll Need

  • Two 1-lb. bags of rice or beans
  • 1/2 yard of washable fabric
  • Marker
  • Iron
  • 1/2-inch no-sew heat tape
  • Fabric cutters
