Stevia is an herb grown mostly in Asian and South American countries and has been approved by the FDA to be used as a natural sweetener. Stevia has no calories and will also not affect the blood sugar levels of the user. Rebaudioside-A is the compound derived from the stevia plant to be used on foods. Since it is very sweet, only a small amount is needed to sweeten items.
