Easy to Follow Protein Diet

A protein diet is a type of low-carbohydrate eating plan that can help a person lose weight. It focuses on eliminating carbs as a main type of food and instead encourages the consumption of lean proteins. Proteins can make a person feel fuller without the need to eat as many calories. There are several easy-to-follow protein diets that you can choose. Remember to consult a physician before trying a low-carb diet.

South Beach Diet

The South Beach Diet is a high-protein, low-carb diet that is considered relatively safer than most of the other popular eating plans. This is because the diet is lower in saturated fat. You will go through three phases on the diet to eliminate carbs and eat mostly protein sources, like chicken, fish, turkey and low glycemic index vegetables. Phase 1 lasts for two weeks and you stay on Phase 2 until you reach your goal weight. Phase 3 is the maintenance phase of the diet.

Atkins

You will eat mostly proteins on Atkins and can only have a maximum of 20 net carbs per day. Meats, eggs, poultry, fish and cheeses are permitted on Atkins. It is easy to follow because you will only have to avoid foods that contain the following ingredients: refined sugar, rice, white flour and milk. For the first two weeks, vegetables are restricted as well. Eventually, you can eat fiber rich veggies, but white flour and white sugar items are still not allowed.

The Zone

The Zone is another easy-to-follow, high-protein diet. You will also focus on eliminating carbs while following this eating plan. The Zone asks you to picture your plate in order to follow their diet. A third of the plate should be made up of lean protein, like fish, skinless chicken, tofu or egg whites. The remaining two thirds should be filled with fruit and veggies. A small amount of fat, such as olive oil or nuts, should be added to the plate as well.
