If your hands begin to slip off your bicycle's handlebars, you need to replace the grips. Due to their rubber construction, grips can deteriorate quickly if you ride every day. Be careful not to scratch the metallic handlebars with the razor blade during the removal process. When installing a new pair of grips, apply a lubricant to displace moisture on the handlebars.
Step 1
Remove the plastic bar ends using a flathead screwdriver. Place the tip of the razor blade at the base of your left handlebar grip. Slice down the length of the handlebar grip.
Step 2
Peel off the old grip to reveal the metallic handlebar. Cut down the length of your right handlebar grip. Remove the worn down grip to expose the handlebar.
Step 3
Scrape off stray pieces of rubber with the razor blade. Wipe down the handlebars with a dry rag to dislodge dirt or grime.
