According to the website EveryDiet, the pH levels of the body's internal fluids affect every cell. Acidic fluids inside the body may cause unwanted health problems. Alkalizing the fluid can bring it back into balance and optimum health. An alkaline diet seeks to reverse a tendency toward acidity inside the body by having you eat foods that will alkalize the cells, tissues and organs. When foods are metabolized, they either leave an acidic or alkaline effect, so choosing alkaline foods is the fastest way to help heal the body.
Step 1
Make a breakfast with some toasted spelt bread. Slice some avocados to accompany the bread as a spread, or try tahini spread if you like the the taste. Drink a cup of almond milk for your beverage.
Step 2
Take alkalizing supplements daily. Try 500 to 1300 mg of evening primrose oil and 10 g of the herb ginseng, along with 380 mg of spirulina. Spirulina can also come in powdered form and added to warm, distilled water with lemon. Always consult your physician before adding supplements to your regimen to avoid any adverse medication interactions.
Step 3
Saute some onions in olive oil and add a serving of lentils into the warm pan until cooked. Steam some broccoli, and cook a cup of brown rice. Flavor the broccoli with lemon and the rice and lentils with olive oil. Slice a lemon and add it to distilled water for your beverage.
Step 4
Purchase a green drink at your local health food store for an afternoon beverage. Green drinks may contain spirulina, chlorophyll and other green vegetables.
Step 5
Make a vegetable soup for dinner, either prepackaged or from scratch. Look for beets, asparagus, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery and onions for some or all of the vegetables in the soup, suggests the book "The Acid-Alkaline Diet for Optimum Health." If buying the soup, look for a blend that contains organic vegetables and a minimal amount of additives or preservatives.
Step 6
Have a cup of herbal tea at night. Try one that contains the calming herbs of chamomile, lemon balm or lavender.
Tips and Warnings
- Avoid carbonated drinks, coffee, fruit juices and alcohol. EveryDiet also suggests you stop eating sugar, fatty meats, dairy and packaged or processed foods. Do not overcook or microwave your meals. White breads, pastas, eggs, soy sauce, margarine, vegetable and corn oil should also be avoided. In general, it is best to eat a diet full of fresh vegetables and whole grains as much as possible.
- If you are experiencing any medical concerns please see a health care specialist. It is important to not rely too much on diet alone to heal any medical conditions.
