Almost everyone enjoys a good pizza. Some of the newest organic pizzas can be healthy for you. Several choices of frozen varieties can be found at the health food store. The ingredients in pizza are not necessarily bad for you either. Tomato paste, vegetables and a natural crust can be low in calories and high in nutrition.
A Healthy Meal
The book "Eating for Recovery: The Essential Nutrition Plan" suggests that pizza is a fast food that may not be bad for your health. The standard pizza comes with tomato sauce, which contains phytonutrients. Vegetables such as mushrooms, green peppers, onions and spinach are rich in vitamins and minerals. Add garlic, which may help to dampen inflammation. Look for a crust with whole grain ingredients; the crust is lower in calories and easier to digest. Try serving pizza with a fresh salad to make the meal even more nutritious.
Amy's Pizza
Amy's pizzas are some of the healthiest on the market and come in many organic varieties. Amy's three-cheese pizza with cornmeal crust includes diced organic tomatoes, mozzarella, shredded Parmesan and crumbled goat cheese on a cornmeal crust. Organic onions, sea salt, organic basil and yeast also were used. The pizza is 77 percent organic and contains 15 g of fat per serving. It has 10 percent of the daily value needed of calcium along with vitamin A and C, and 15 percent of iron.
Rising Moon Organics
Another natural pizza choice is Rising Moon Organics Margherita Pizza, which is made with organic ingredients. This pizza contains 330 g of calories per serving, with 11 g of total fat and 0 g trans fat. Make Your Own
The book "Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease" suggests to make your own healthy pizza with a brown rice pizza crust. Look for organic tomato sauce and fresh vegetables for toppings. To stay low in calories, look for a low-fat cheese. For quality, choose a fresh, raw cheese that can be found in a health food store.
