The grind rail refers to an obstacle found in skateboarding parks. Use the metal trucks of your skateboard to grind across the rail. According to The Berrics, professionally built grind rails feature a metallic construction. Designing a metal grind rail requires expertise as well as the use of dangerous welding equipment. Square rails make grinding easier for novice skateboarders. Advanced skaters often prefer a circular grind rail. Save on costly building supplies by constructing your homemade grind rail with cinder blocks.
Step 1
Locate a suitable building site for your homemade grind rail. Place one cinder block onto the pavement in a horizontal position. Apply the liquid cement to the top surface of the cinder block.
Step 2
Lower a second cinder block onto the liquid cement. Apply the liquid cement to the left side of the cinder block stack. Position an identical stack of two cinder blocks adjacent to the first.
Step 3
Push the two stacks together to ensure the liquid cement takes hold. Repeat the process until you have connected six stacks of cinder blocks in an elongated row. Apply the liquid cement on the inside of the angle iron pieces.
Step 4
Align the L-shaped angle iron onto the opposing edges of your homemade grind rail. Place one cinder block onto each of the angle iron pieces. Allow the liquid cement to dry for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Step 5
Remove the cinder blocks from the angle iron. Stand on top of your grind rail to ensure it has a stable construction. Execute a grind across the angle iron to ensure it has been fastened in place.
Things You'll Need
- 14 cinder blocks
- Liquid cement
- 2 pieces of angle iron, 8-feet long
