Several fitness equipment manufacturers offer elliptical machines and stationary bicycles with built-in video games to make exercising fun and exciting. This technology might make working out your favorite part of the day.

Proform

One of the largest companies in the fitness equipment industry, Proform, sells two exercise bicycles that house built-in video games: the Proform 290 CSR and the Proform ZX2 Upright Bike. Both machines allow you to play black jack, Texas hold 'em and various exercise video games while you exercise. In addition to video games, these bikes boast iPod or music player ports, iFit card technology that allows you to benefit from professionally developed workout routines, heart-rate monitors and built-in sound systems.

Proform also offers various elliptical, or stair-stepper, machines with the same video games and technological features. You can purchase or learn more about this advanced equipment at Proform's official website; Proform.com. (See References 1)

NordicTrack

NordicTrack remains a recognized name in the fitness equipment industry. As of January 2011, this company offers one stationary bike with built-in health-promoting video games. The NordicTrack C2 SI allows individuals to play games and listen to music while they work out. Like the Proform bikes, the NordicTrack C2 SI also comes with built-in iFit workout card technology, heart rate sensors and music player terminals. NordicTrack even offers the ability to surf the Internet while you exercise on many of its machines. If you want to run a specific distance or track your steps, you can also use the C2 SI's built-in odometer.

Body Max

Body Max is a manufacturer of exercise machines and offers various fitness devices with built-in video games. For example, the Game Rider EZ Gaming Bike and System houses a racing game that you can play while exercising. This game not only encourages fitness by making workouts fun, it also rewards you for strenuous exercise, as you achieve higher success in the race by peddling faster. Body Max machines also contain heart rate monitoring technology and programmed workout routines.

Fitness Centers

In response to this emerging technology, fitness centers across the country provide exercise machines with built-in video games for use by their members. Call a local gym and ask whether they offer equipment with games and other advanced features. Also, as always, check with your doctor before beginning any type of physical fitness regimen.
