The Master Cleanse Diet is a fasting diet that consists of drinking only lemonade-water for 10 days. The lemonade-water is a blend of fresh spring water, cayenne pepper, fresh lemon juice and Grade B maple syrup. When following the Master Cleanse, you consume no other liquids or foods for the entire duration of the diet, according to Stanley Burroughs, author of "The Master Cleanse Diet." After a few days of fasting, your gastrointestinal system relaxes, making it harder to digest solid foods after your fast. Don Colbert, M.D., author of "Toxic Relief," recommends gradually breaking your fast over a period of three days.

Step 1

Drink fresh fruit juice the first morning after your fast. Juice fruits that are easy to digest, such as apples, pears and pineapples. Juice easy-to-digest fresh vegetables such as kale and carrots later in the day.

Step 2

Eat raw, fresh fruits and vegetables on day two. Eat fruits such as cantaloupe in the morning and a fresh salad with lettuce, tomato and carrots for lunch and dinner.

Step 3

Add steamed vegetables and baked potatoes to your diet on the third day. Avoid adding butter or oils to your vegetables or potatoes.

Step 4

Add lean proteins, complex carbohydrates and essential fatty acids to your diet on day four. Eat small quantities of food at each meal, gradually building up to your normal plate size.
