High blood pressure, hypertension, occurs when the pressure in your arteries as the blood flows through is of high enough force that if left untreated, may eventually cause health problems. Exercise has been proved to reduce high blood pressure. Rebounding is exercise on a trampoline that you can perform in the privacy of your own home, or in a group at your local health club.
Hypertension
High blood pressure is defined numerically as anything over 140/90. The top number equals the pressure in your arteries as your heart contracts. The bottom number correlates to the pressure in your arteries as your heart relaxes. According to Albert E Carter, the author of "The Miracle of Rebound Exercise," rebound exercise helps to reduce the increase in blood pressure force during the activity.
Rebounding
Trampoline exercises, rebounding, are low impact movements that use the forces of gravity to benefit the body. When you jump on a trampoline, you experience zero gravity at the top of the bounce in the one instant of suspension between moving up and coming down. As you land on the platform, your body feels two or three times the force of gravity depending on how high you jump. Your cells respond to these gravitational forces by improving transportation of fluid in and out of the cells. This includes the transportation of blood and when your blood is moving more efficiently, your heart has to work less, which reduces the blood force, or pressure.
Exercise
Healing Daily recommends 40 minutes of daily rebounding exercise to improve heart health. You can begin with five minutes several times throughout the day until your endurance improves. Two 20 minute sessions will provide the same benefit as one 40 minute session. Beginners should start with a health bounce in which your feet do not completely leave the trampoline. As you advance, you can perform jumping jacks, jogging and twisting movements.
Stress
Blood pressure can be affected by stress levels. When you experience moments of high stress, your blood pressure elevates. Rebounding on a trampoline helps to reduce your stress because it is fun and something you can do for yourself. You will not have to think about work or concentrate on daily stressors during your exercise time which will help to lower your stress and blood pressure. After exercise, your mood will remain improved, which will help you handle your daily tasks in a calm manner.
