Think twice before you wolf down that loaf of bread that appears on your table at the beginning of a meal. While the bread at the Cheesecake Factory may tempt you, it can also add fat and carbohydrates to your lunch or dinner. Skipping restaurant bread -- or sharing it so you eat less -- is a good way to watch those added calories.
Calories and Fat
One slice of Cheesecake Factory bread has about 110 calories and almost 5 g of fat. If you eat the entire loaf, you'll consume more than 650 calories with about 250 coming from fat.
Carbs and Protein
The additional calories in Cheesecake Factory come from carbohydrate. One slice has 23 g of carbs. It also has 3 g of sugar and 1 g of fiber. Additionally, a slice of Cheesecake Factory bread has about 3 g of protein.
Butter
If you add butter to your bread you will add more calories. One pat of butter has 36 calories, which come from the 4 g fat it contains. That brings you up to almost 150 calories for one slice of bread.
Daily Calories
A plain bread slice will account for 5.5 percent of your overall calories, based on a 2,000-calorie diet. The fat calories add up to 2.25 percent of your overall calories. If you eat the Cheesecake Factory bread with butter, it will account for 7.3 percent of your daily calories and the fat content will make up about 4 percent of your daily calorie total. MayoClinic.com recommends that you limit fat intake to 20 to 35 percent of your daily calories. On a 2,000-calorie diet, that's about 44.5 to 78 g of fat per day. The bread with the butter equals 9 g fat, which is 20 percent of your daily fat allotment if you are sticking to the lower recommended fat intake and 11.5 percent of your daily allotment if you allow yourself 78 g of fat daily.
