What Are the Ingredients in Acai Pure?

Products with "acai" in their name contain acai berry extract. Acai Pure's Nutrition Facts label lists the names of the natural ingredients in their proprietary blend, but not the amount of each fruit, herb or vegetable. Acai Pure capsules provide a dietary supplement that is purported to cleanse your system, purify and detoxify your body and get rid of accumulated waste in the digestive tract.

Another company offers a drinkable product called ACAI pure that is 100 percent juice made from whole, wild-harvested acai berries.

Acai Berry Extract

Acai berries grow on the Acai palm in Brazil. When consumed in various forms, including liquid and capsule supplements, acai pulp and acai juice are absorbed into the blood, supplying your body with health-promoting antioxidants. Acai is low in sugar, and the flavor has been described as a mixture of chocolate and red wine, blueberry or tropical fruits.

Ginger

Ginger, an ingredient in Acai Pure, is a root that provides disease-fighting antioxidants. One of these antioxidants is gingerol, which early research suggests may help eliminate cancer cells and reduce cancer-related inflammation, according to the American Institute for Cancer Research. Ginger may also help ease migraines and reduce nausea.

Rhubarb

Phytonutrients are bioactive compounds in food that may enhance immunity, promote health and protect against chronic conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, certain cancers and stroke. Most fruits and vegetables contain phytonutrients, antioxidant substances plants produce to protect themselves against bacteria and disease. Research has been looking at the benefits colorful fruits and vegetables provide to human health as a result of their pigment-related phytonutrients. Red fruits and vegetables, such as rhubarb, which is found in Acai Pure, provide lycopene, a carotenoid, and anthocyanin, a flavonoid high in antioxidants. Rhubarb and other red, purple and blue foods may be helpful for heart health, immunity and vision.

Psyllium

Dietary fiber provided by psyllium seed is an important component of Acai Pure supplement capsules. Milled psyllium seed produces mucilage when consumed. This absorbs excess water while stimulating normal bowel activity.

Fennel

Fennel, also called anise, is a bulb with a licorice-like fragrance. The entire plant is edible and it has many uses. Fennel may help protect against symptoms of the flu and colds, and this vegetable adds calcium, potassium and vitamin to Acai Pure.

Licorice Root

Acai Pure contains licorice root, which has been used throughout history as a remedy for a variety of conditions, such as ulcers, indigestion, colds and coughs. Dried licorice root can be cut into tiny pieces or powdered and made into capsules, tablets, liquid extracts and teas.

Goldenseal

Acai Pure contains goldenseal, a bitter-tasting root that is thought to help boost the immune system and increase the effectiveness of other kinds of medicinal herbs. In the past, it was used as a health tonic and a treatment for sore throats, mouth sores and digestion problems. Currently, people use goldenseal in remedies for cold symptoms, such as congestion.

Non-Plant Ingredients

In addition to the natural plant ingredients in Acai Pure, the supplement also contains purified water; hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, a semi-synthetic compound used to manufacture of capsules; and magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide, binders or fillers used in capsules.
