A low-calorie diet and regular exercise helps you burn unwanted fat and calories that contributes to weight gain. Fat-burning foods burn more calories than they contain, help eliminate stored fat cells and promote weight loss by increasing your metabolism, notes the "Prescription for Nutritional Healing." Adjusting your diet to include more super fat-burning foods can boost your metabolism and help you drop some pounds.
Fish
Salmon and other fatty fish can help burn fat. Salmon contains unsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids that increase fat burning, reduce fat production and improve digestion. Omega-3 fatty acids also reduce leptin, a hormone produced in your body, according to "New York Daily News." Lower leptin levels are associated with accelerated metabolism and higher caloric intake. Examples of other fatty fish that contain omega-3 nutrients include tuna, lake trout, sardines, albacore tuna, mackerel and herring. Omega-3s can also be found in soybeans, canola oil, walnuts, walnut oil, flaxseed, flaxseed oil, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin seed oil and soybean oil.
Apples
Eating apples can burn excess body fat. Apples contain pectin, a nutrient that helps release fatty deposits, absorbs water from food and prevents the absorption of fat. Apples also contain powerful antioxidants that may reduce your chances of developing metabolic syndrome, a condition characterized by excess belly fat that subsequently leads to diabetes, stroke or coronary artery disease.
Green Tea
Green tea is known as a super fat-burning source. It contains epigallocatechin gallate, or EGCG, a chemical that assists in fat burning by increasing brain and nervous system functions. Like caffeine, EGCG is also known to increase your metabolism without the heart-racing side effects. Green tea also contain antioxidants that boost your immune system and overall health.
Oranges
Consuming oranges can also help you burn fat. Oranges contain substantial amounts of vitamin C and carnitine, a nutrient that promotes fat burning abilities in your body. Vitamin C also assists your body in diluting and eliminating fatty waste from your body. Additional fat-burning citrus fruits include grapefruits, tangerines, papayas and guavas.
