Joining a gym or a group at your local recreation center for your diet and fitness needs may not be realistic for some of you. Fortunately, many online program exist that will guide you through programs for losing weight or increasing your fitness. As with any weight-loss program, check with your doctor regarding any preexisting conditions before you begin.
Abs Diet Online
The Abs Diet Online is a paid diet and fitness program that is focused on mind and body health, and boosting metabolism. You can do the program entirely online. You will begin by creating an account, where you will enter your height, weight, strength and what type of workout equipment you have access to. When you have completed your registration, you can begin by reading articles, planning your meals, watching fitness videos and joining the community. Each day you will track your food, fitness and stress, and each week you will enter your weight.
Weight Watchers
Weight Watchers is a paid program that allows you to attend in person, join online, or a combination of both. Choosing the online program will require a registration fee, and you may select either a monthly option or pay for three months in advance for a discount. You will then enter your height, weight and health conditions. Based on your answers, Weight Watchers will assign you a daily points value, which you will use to calculate the foods you eat each day. You will record your food, fitness, and weight on a regular basis, and Weight Watchers will adjust your points values periodically, based on your progress. The site offers a community, cooking and fitness videos, articles and recipes.
Couch to 5K
The Couch to 5K program is designed for novice runners and will lead you through a 9-week regimen of walking and running until you are able to run an entire 5K. You will walk/run three days a week, and each session requires around 20 to 30 minutes plus stretching. This is a free training program that requires no registration or fees, and you may join its Facebook page for daily motivation and to ask questions. The website offers numerous resources, including training logs, gear and nutrition advice, training tips and upcoming races in your area.
One Hundred Pushups
If the idea of doing 100 push-ups seems impossible, the One Hundred Pushups program is perfect for you. Push-ups engage your upper body and core, require no equipment and can be done almost anywhere. The site is free and does not require registration, but you can print the pocket trainer, download the apps for your phone, or sign up on Twitter to keep track of your progress. If you haven't done a push-up since high school gym class, the site offers videos to help you perfect your form, as well as modified forms for varying fitness levels. If you're looking for a bigger challenge, you may want to consider the programs for 200 sit-ups, 200 squats, 25 pull-ups and 50 pull-ups. Each challenge is six weeks and is based on your current physical condition.
