Played off the ice, street hockey is an extremely versatile game that can be played with two or 20 players. In fact, the rules of the game can be easily modified to suit your needs. But if your friends are busy and your sister refuses to play, it can be quite difficult to play the game on your own. Fortunately, you can play a variety of simple and fun street hockey games by yourself.

Through Holes

For this street hockey game, you will need a large sturdy piece of cardboard like an empty refrigerator box. When propped up against the street hockey goal, the cardboard should be long enough to cover the entire length of the goal. Carefully cut different sized holes along the bottom of the cardboard. The holes should be large enough for the hockey puck to slide through. Large holes will be easier to shoot the puck through, while smaller holes will be more difficult to make. Once you have several targets cut into the board, prop it up in front of your goal net. If necessary, secure the cardboard to the goal posts with tape or rope. Challenge yourself to shoot the puck through each hole. To make the game more difficult, try shooting the puck from longer distances or unusual angles.

Shoot & Score

If you have several hockey pucks, this simple game can help you determine your shooting weaknesses. Once the hockey goal has been placed in position, scatter pucks in various locations in front of the goal. While some pucks should be placed within close distance to the goal, others should be placed quite far away. Put some pucks directly in front of the net, while others can be positioned near the side of your playing area. Once the pucks have been positioned, move around the playing area and shoot each puck into the net. If you miss the net, use a piece of tape to mark the shooting location on the ground. Once all your pucks have been shot, you will know which locations you need to practice shooting from.

Opposite-Hand Challenge

As with any sport, a hockey player typically prefers shooting the puck with his dominant arm. However, learning how to control and shoot the puck with both arms can benefit your game. To begin this game, line up 10 hockey pucks horizontally about 5 feet in front of the net. Rather than shooting the pucks with your dominant hand, switch the stick to your other hand and try making the shots. As you become comfortable shooting with this arm, move the pucks to longer distances and greater angles for a greater challenge.

Roller Hockey

While some people play street hockey in gym shoes, others make the game more challenging by donning rollerblades for the game. And for this street hockey game, you will want to do just that. Use orange cones to set up an obstacle course in front of the hockey net. Once your course has been set, skate your way through the course as you direct the hockey puck along the way. Once you reach the end of the course, shoot the puck into the net. Make the game more difficult by using your nondominant hand or timing yourself as you move through the course.
