How to Lose Weight & Get Healthy Fast

Losing weight is often an aesthetic endeavor. However, it carries with it serious health benefits, so it may be more of an incentive for you to lose weight if you knew how much it would improve how you feel, not just how you look. Weight loss can prevent heart disease and diabetes, so it might be worth trying your hand at a few fitness and dietary changes.

Step 1

Begin your day with breakfast. Even if you're busy, make sure you eat something nutritious in the morning. Eating in the morning gives your body energy and always provides your metabolism with something to work on, allowing it to be more activity throughout the day and allowing you to burn more calories.

Step 2

Get rid of any unhealthy snacks in your home. Anything like chips, cookies, candy, cakes or ice cream should hit the trash. Though tasty, these snacks will only tempt you into deviating from your diet and slow down your weight loss efforts.

Step 3

Drink at least eight 8-oz. glasses of water every day. Staying hydrated helps your digestive system flush out waste and fat, and keeps your metabolism burning calories at a steady rate, which is exactly what you want when looking to lose weight.

Step 4

Quit stocking up on sodas. These drinks are filled with calories and sugar, yet offer no nutritional content at all. Stop drinking them as much as possible to cut back on your daily calorie intake, to lower your risk of diabetes and to help quicken weight loss.

Step 5

Make time to exercise every day. It doesn't matter what kind of cardiovascular activity you do, so long as it gets your heart rate up for 30 minutes each day. Jogging, biking, swimming, kickboxing and aerobics are all effective choices for burning calories and fat.

Tips and Warnings

  • You need to burn 3,500 more calories than you take in to lose 1 lb. This averages out to 500 calories per day if you want to lose 1 lb. in a week.
