More Americans than ever struggle with weight loss issues. About one in three Americans is overweight or obese, warns the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Weight loss and exercise planners use some of the same type of goal-setting principles used for task management. If you use these types of systems in the workplace, you may find the concept of using a planner for weight loss very easy. One of the most important benefits of using a weight loss and exercise planner is information.

Using a weight loss and exercise planner can help you reach your fitness goals by adding a form of accountability to your weight maintenance. A 2010 study by the Kaiser Permanente, Center for Health Research found that use of Internet fitness increased long-term weight maintenance in participants. Part of the reason may lie in also being able to track progress. When using reports, graphs and other tracking features, you have a true grasp of the trends of your weight loss and exercise.

Setting Goals

You can use weight loss and exercise planners to set goals with a series of milestones or mini-goals on the path to your success. A weight loss goal of 30 pounds may be formidable. Yet, if you break it down into increments per month or week, the goal is more manageable and healthier. You can plan exercise to help you track calorie burn, which can lead to weight loss. You will likely find that a defined goal will give you a better assessment of where you are at and where you need to go with your exercise planning.

Staying Motivated

A weight loss planner gives you the opportunity to gauge your progress. You can then use it to motivate you and keep you on track for your weight loss goals. This means five to six times a week, working out 45 minutes or more for sufficient calorie burn. You can use your planner as a journal to record your workouts and note the things that worked and didn't work for you. This way, you can fine tune your exercise schedule to your needs.
