Pears are a good source of fiber as well as some vitamins and minerals. Nutritional values listed are for a medium pear, including the skin.

Macronutrients

One medium pear provides 103 calories, 27 1/2 g of carbohydrates and less than 1 g of fat and protein.

Fiber

One medium pear contains 5 1/2 g of fiber. The daily recommended intake (DRI) for fiber is 14 g per 1,000 calories, so one pear would provide nearly 20 percent of the fiber for an adult on a 2,000-calorie per-day diet.

Sugars

One medium pear contains 17.4 g of sugar. The majority of these sugar grams are in the form of fructose, the natural sugar found in fruits and other foods.

Vitamins

One medium pear contains approximately 10 percent of the DRI for vitamin C.

Minerals

One medium pear also supplies approximately 10 percent of the DRI for potassium and 16 percent for copper.
