The Plank Stomach Exercise

The plank exercise is one of the best core exercises. The difference between abs and the core is that the abs are made up of four muscles, while the core is comprised of 32 muscles, including the four abdominal muscles. All the muscles of the core are meant primarily to stabilize the spine. It is this reason that the plank---and not sit-ups or crunches---are best for strengthening the core musculature.
