Apple cider vinegar has been touted as a miracle food, offering benefits including appetite suppression and acne treatment, according to "Nutrition: Concepts and Controversies." No evidence has been uncovered to support many of these claims. However, according to "Mayo Clinic Essential Diabetes Book," when taken as a daily supplement prior to going to sleep, 2 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar lowers morning blood glucose levels of Type 2 diabetics by 4 percent to 6 percent. Consult your physician prior to using apple cider vinegar or any other supplement to treat diabetes or any other medical condition.
Step 1
Mix 2 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar in an 8 oz. glass of water.
Step 2
Stir 1 tsp. to 2 tsp. of a no-calorie sweetener, such as sucralose, into the water. This will reduce the bitter flavor of the apple cider vinegar. This step may be omitted if you prefer the bitterness of the apple cider vinegar over the sweetness of the calorie-free sweetener.
Step 3
Drink the water and apple cider vinegar nightly prior to going to bed.
