Kellogg's Cereal Diet Plan

If you are looking for a weight loss diet that uses convenience foods, the Special K Challenge might be for you. This program from Kellogg's give you a meal plan that only requires you to prepare one meal for yourself each day, while you get the rest of your meals from Special K products. Before starting a diet, get your doctor's approval.

Customization

You can select a menu plan that most closely matches your personality when you register to participate in the Special K Challenge. Choices include the basic Classic Plan, the Mix It Up Plan, for more variety, the On-The-Go Plan, with portable options, and the Chocolate Lover's Plan, for individuals with a sweet tooth. When you receive your meal plan, you can follow the default meals as written, or you can swap individual meals and snacks with the options that are offered.

Meals

Your first meal on the Kellogg's cereal diet includes one Special K protein shake, protein meal bar or 2/3 cup of skim milk, one serving of any Special K cereal and one piece of fruit. The second meal is one protein meal bar, protein shake or serving of cereal, and your third meal can be a regular meal. Special K provides ideas and recipes such as a turkey sandwich, yogurt parfait or veggie burger. You can eat your meals in any order during the day.

Snacks

Kellogg's states that the Special K diet helps decrease your hunger because you get to eat several times per day, and two of your snacks can be Special K protein snack bars, cereal, fruit crisps, crackers or protein water mixes. Also, eat fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the day to help decrease your hunger and provide vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber. Other instructions include drinking your usual amounts of beverages, so long as they are low in calories.

Other Information

It is free to sign up for the Special K Challenge, and your only costs are for the food you need to buy. Kellogg's claims that the average weight loss in the Special K Challenge participants is 4.8 lbs, but keep in mind that your personal results may be different, depending on factors such as your body size and type, the amount of exercise you do, and what you eat while you are on the plan.
