Getting pregnant is a touchy subject for many. Some women get pregnant easily while others languish waiting for a positive pregnancy test. Those in the latter group are often willing to try any means to get pregnant, including natural, herbal remedies.
Red Clover
Red clover is a wild plant that has been used for centuries to alleviate various maladies, including respiratory ailments and skin inflammations. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, red clover contains isoflavins, chemical compounds that mimic the properties of natural estrogen in a woman's body. Red clover is sometimes used as an estrogen replacement, and since increased levels of estrogen are necessary in order to trigger ovulation, red clover may be beneficial in helping women get pregnant.
Chasteberry
Chaste berry is an herb that comes from the chaste tree, which is indigenous to Asia and the Mediterranean. Chaste berry extract has been used for thousands of years to help women with various issues related to menstruation, including some types of infertility. It may act like progesterone and lengthen the luteal phase, or second half of your monthly cycle, increasing the chance a fertilized egg will implant properly in the uterus. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine has done studies on the effects of the chaste berry and women's bodies with inconclusive results.
Black Cohosh
Black cohosh is a native North American rhizome that is used to treat menstrual-related symptoms. It contains phytoestrogens, or estrogen-like chemicals, that may act similarly to the natural estrogen that women's bodies produce, helping the fertility process along. Women should only take black cohosh up until ovulation, as it may cause contractions in the uterus and could cause a miscarriage if you are pregnant. It also can cause vomiting and nausea.
Siberian Ginseng
Siberian ginseng is a plant native to Russia that is distantly related to its Chinese cousin, ginseng. It has been used for centuries in Russia as a super food, a supplement that helps the body cope with different stresses and promotes overall health. It aids in male fertility, boosting male reproductive capacity.
Damiana Leaf
Damiana leaf also is helpful for male fertility. It is a shrub grown in South America and is used as an aphrodisiac. It contains alkaloids that have similar properties to testosterone and is supposed to raise the drive for cohabitation. It also is used to alleviate impotence in males.
