Hybrid golf clubs have opened up a whole new world for golfers. Many golfers struggle when hitting from the rough, fairway bunkers or when hitting with fairway woods. They find it is very difficult to control the ball under those circumstances. The hybrid club is easier to swing and golfers feel more confident with hybrids.
Club Head Speed
Hybrid clubs are often referred to as rescue clubs because they are used when your ball is situated in the rough. When you use a fairway wood or a long iron under those circumstances, your club head often slows down in the heavy grass. A hybrid club has a much smaller head. As a result, you can maintain your club head speed all the way from contact to the end of your follow through.
Accuracy
One of the biggest advantages of the hybrid club is its accuracy. The hybrid has the face of an iron and has the rounded head of a wood. It is shorter than a fairway wood and that helps you hit the ball more accurately. Much of the weight of the clubs is in the rear of the club and that helps you swing the club smoothly.
Versatility
You can use the hybrid club in place of fairway woods, long irons and medium irons. Golfers who struggle with the more traditional clubs often have great success with hybrids. Many high-handicappers find that they can get the ball high in the air with the hybrid and hit smoother and more fluid shots.
Confidence
The biggest impact the hybrid has on many golfers is increased confidence. Instead of stepping into the fairway or the rough and dreading the shot they are about to hit, golfers look forward to swinging the hybrid club and execute shots with much more consistency. The club is not just for high-handicappers, either. The majority of the pros on the PGA tour carry a hybrid club and will use it under difficult circumstances.
