Healthy Breakfast Finger Food

When you eat a healthy breakfast each morning, it regulates your blood sugar and gives you the energy you need to start the day more alertly. If you find it inconvenient to sit down and eat a meal in the morning, healthy breakfast finger foods allow you to eat while completing other morning tasks.

Whole Wheat Bagel Bites with Peanut Butter

Filling up on whole grains for your morning meal ensures that your body has a steady stream of energy until time to eat again. Whole grains are complex carbohydrates, which satisfy your hunger but also take longer to digest, so you avoid mid morning hunger and energy slumps. Peanut butter contains several grams of protein and healthy fats, both of which energize you and provide morning energy. Toast two mini whole wheat bagels, spread with creamy peanut butter and cut into fourths. A sliced banana will add vitamins and minerals, such as potassium, to your bagel bites.

Hard-Boiled Egg

Eggs are a common breakfast food that also supply about 8 g of protein per serving. Hard-boiled eggs are a nutritious finger food, Robert C. Atkins comments in his book, "Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution." A hard-boiled egg is easy to eat with your hands and is also portable enough to take with you if you are on the go right away in the morning. Boil several eggs at a time to make it even more convenient. Fill a pot with water and add the eggs. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat to a simmer for 10 or 15 minutes. Drain the pot and allow eggs to cool before peeling. A piece of fruit will round out your breakfast and offer some fiber for additional energy.

French Toast Strips

French toast is a common breakfast food, but can be high in fat and sugar. Homemade French toast strips are a simple way to enjoy this breakfast in finger food form and allows you to use more nutritious ingredients, Stacy M. DeBroff notes in her book, "The Mom Book." Use whole grain bread to increase your fiber intake, which will supply energy. Dip the bread in beaten egg mixed with a few drops of vanilla. Place in a warmed and greased electric skillet and cook until golden. Flip and cook until the second side is golden. Cool slightly and cut into strips. Place in freezer bags and freeze until ready to eat. Thaw and serve with a side of low-sugar maple syrup or honey for dipping.

Cinnamon Toast

Toast can be a nutritious breakfast if you go easy on the butter and add some healthy toppings, such as cinnamon. Toast one or two slices of whole grain bread. Spread a small amount of butter on top and sprinkle with cinnamon. Cut into fourths or strips to make it even easier to eat. Other nutritious toppings include nut butters or 100 percent fruit spreads. Serve with fruit, such as an apple, banana or peach, to increase the fiber and nutrient content of your morning meal.
