Fibromyalgia is a condition marked by musculoskeletal pain. Symptoms include fatigue, weakness, mood fluctuations, memory loss, and sleep issues. There is no cure for fibromyalgia, but certain strategies such as medications, relaxation, exercise, and stress-relief may help control symptoms. Some herbal remedies may also be useful to help relieve or control symptoms of fibromyalgia. Always consult your doctor before starting any herbal remedies and never replace other forms of treatment with herbal remedies.

Rhodiola

Rhodiola, also called Rhodiola rosea, may be a helpful herb for reducing fibromyalgia symptoms. This herb may provide antioxidant and anti-stress benefits. Antioxidants are substances that protect your body from harmful bacterial and viral agents that can cause cellular damage, infection, and inflammation. Therefore, this herb can help boost your ability to fight the pain and fatigue that is characteristic of fibromyalgia. A standard dose of 100 to 600mg/day may be helpful.

St.John's Wort

St.John's wort is a herbal supplement that may play a role in controlling fibromyalgia. This herb may raise your serotonin levels. According to the Arthritis Foundation, serotonin has been shown to be lower than normal in people with fibromyalgia. You can ask your doctor if this herb might help relieve or control symptoms of your fibromyalgia.

Green Tea

Green tea is another herbal option for fibromyalgia. This herb, also called Camelia sinensis, can offer your both antioxidant support and help increase your immunity. The University of Maryland Medical Center suggests that a dose of 250 to 500 mg/day may be helpful. In addition to an extract, you can consume this herb in a tea.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a herb that can help protect your body from inflammation that leads to fatigue and pain in your body. Take 300 mg, 3 times a day. Also called Curcuma longa, you should be aware that turmeric can cause thinning of your blood. If you take blood thinners including aspirin or Coumadin, you may be at risk for increased bleeding. Always consult your doctor before starting this or any other herb supplement.
