Affirmations are positive or true statements that are repeated to stimulate the subconscious mind. There are many benefits. When repeated, positive affirmations can affect your present and future actions, help motivate you to reach your goals, influence your inner mind to help you overcome physical and mental barriers and can help you get rid of negative thinking. Lean muscle mass can be built quickly by using various mental and physical techniques.

Visualizing the specific results an exercise can achieve for a targeted group is one technique to effectively developing the mind/muscle link needed to train the subconscious mind. Another technique includes repeating positive affirmation statements. This could include statements like, "I am going to be successful in completing today's workout," "I am going to successfully push to the next level today," "I am will build larger deltoids," or "I am going to provide my body with the nutrition needed to build muscle mass". Successful weightlifters consistently affirm themselves with positive thoughts.
