Dunlop's Elite series of motorcycle tires include the Elite II and Elite 3 models. Both tires are designed as touring tires, which come standard on some Harley-Davidson motorbikes. The two models are quite similar in design and featured tire technologies from Dunlop. The Elite 3 is available in more sizes, including one extra-wide rear tire size.

491 Elite II

Dunlop's 491 Elite II touring tire is H-rated and can handle speeds up to 130 mph. The tire incorporates one of Dunlop's distinct tread compounds and a computer-designed tread pattern to optimize performance. These technologies aim to provide high mileage and reduce tread wear as well as water dispersion.

Elite 3 Radial

Dunlop's Elite 3 Radial features wear resistance technology that encourages even wearing of the tire, prolonging its life. The E3 is designed with a tread pattern that allows the tire to maintain firm contact with the pavement. A distinct sport-derived profile aims to provide confident turn transitions and stability while cornering. The rear E3 tire has a wide design and incorporates all the technologies of the regular radial E3. Harley-Davidson has made the E3 standard on some of its motorbikes.

Sizes

Both the Elite II and Elite 3 models are available in three front tire sizes. The Elite II rear tire comes in three sizes, while the E3 is made in four different sizes. The E3 rear tire offers a larger range of tire width, ranging from 7.13 to 10.02 cm, while the Elite II ranges from 5.20 to 6.02 cm. Overall tire diameter options for the E3 rear include 24.39, 25.91, 26.06 and 26.20 cm. The Elite II tire diameters only range from 25.50 to 25.72 cm.

Load Statistics

The E3 rear tires hold the edge in load and speed indexing, ranging from 77H to 81H, whereas the Elite II rear tire ranges from 74H to 78H. The front E3 tire ranges from 62V to 72H, while the Elite II front tire ranges from 61H to 71H. The maximum load reading on the largest E3 rear tire, size 250/40R18, is 1019 at 41 PSI. In comparison, the largest Elite II rear tire, size MU90B16 can accommodate 930 at 40 PSI. The largest E3 front tire only has a slight maximum load advantage over the largest Elite II front tire.
