The homeopathic remedy Cadmium metallicum and other Cadmium remedies in the same family are generally used to treat stomach and intestinal cancer, in the case of Cadmium metallicum and Cadmium sulfuricum, according to William Boericke in his book, "Materia Medica and Repertory." Along with treating cancer, the homeopathic Cadmium remedies are also used to treat the adverse side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments for cancer. If used properly and according to directions, there are no adverse side effects. If used in too large a dose or too high a potency, various side effects have been documented, according to Boericke.
Upper Respiratory
Too much homeopathic Cadmium, Boericke notes, can produce upper respiratory symptoms similar to those of influenza--sneezing, coughing, nasal discharge and post-nasal drip being the most common.
Body Pains
Boericke goes on to say that homeopathic Cadmium side effects are influenza-like aches and pains with dull aching all over the body, especially in the muscles. Fatigue, exhaustion and weakness, also like that experienced during the flu, may be experienced. Also, the person will report feeling very cold, even when in a well-heated room, and possibly experience itching of the skin from too much Cadmium remedy.
Gastrointestinal Symptoms
Reports of nausea, sometimes very extreme; vomiting, especially triggered by the slightest movement; and diarrhea have been seen as a result of too much homeopathic Cadmium sulfuricum as noted by Franz Vermeulen in the "Synoptic Materia Medica II."
Mental/Emotional Effects
Both irritability and indifference to everything in life with a desire to be left alone have been seen in the list of side effects from taking too much homeopathic Cadmium, according to Vermeulen.
