Fitness and diet are important to understand as a female because the foods you eat directly reflect your health. Not only will a healthy diet promote overall health, but certain nutrients can also help enhance beauty, such as helping you get glowing skin and hair. Fitness also will not only help your heart, but also will tone and tighten your best assets.

Clean Out Fridge and Cupboard

Getting rid of processed foods such as cookies, frozen foods and left-over fast food will help you have a healthier kitchen. Fresh foods will deliver the nutrients your body needs. Foods such as lean meats, nuts, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans will help to promote general health. These foods are high in nutrients such as protein for building and repairing muscles, fiber for regulating the digestive system and controlling your appetite, and essential vitamins, such as folate and vitamin C. These foods are also low in sodium and cholesterol, which will reduce your risk for high blood pressure and heart disease.

Eating for Beauty

Eating a healthy amount of food every day is important to control weight and help with weight loss. The American Heart Association recommends that the average woman eat at least 2,000 calories a day and less than 16 grams of saturated fat and less than 2 g of trans fats. Eating healthy fats is also encouraged in a female diet. Eating good fats such as omega-3 fatty acids will help stimulate growth and health of your skin and hair.

Aerobic Training

Aerobic training is significant to your health because staying active will build a healthy and active heart. According to the American College of Sports Medicine, women should cardio-train five days a week for 30 minutes a day. Breaking a sweat doing aerobic training will help to burn calories and promote weight loss. Running, hiking, biking and even kickboxing are all great cardio workouts because the major muscles in your body are all engaged.

Build Strength

Building strength is important for females. Strength training will help increase your bone density as well as increase your lean body mass. The more muscle you have on your body, the more calories your body is able to burn, which helps you maintain your weight. Strength training also helps to increase your balance and prevent injuries. Body-weight exercises such as squats, lunges, push-ups, dips and sit-ups can all be done at home to build strength.
