The various models of Trotter treadmills went out of production when fitness giant Cybex International purchased Trotter and its entire product line. Since the purchase, Cybex treadmills share many features with the Trotter line. Although each individual treadmill model will have its own idiosyncrasies, the general process for using Trotter and Cybex equipment remains consistent.

Installation

Step 1

Set the treadmill in place on a sturdy floor. Allow a minimum of 2 feet of space behind and to either side of the treadmill.

Step 2

Plug in the unit. Use a 20-amp grounded outlet at 115 volts.

Step 3

Find the on/off switch for the unit. This will be located on the control panel, though the specific location changes by model.

Step 4

Turn the treadmill on to confirm the circuit is working. Turn it off until your workout -- treadmills draw a surprising amount of energy.

Basic Workout

Step 1

Turn the treadmill on using the on/off switch. The control panel should light up in response.

Step 2

Stand with one foot on each of the solid rails on either side of the running belt. For safety, do not stand on the running belt until you have started the treadmill program.

Step 3

Press "Start," also labeled "Start/Enter," to open the program-selection mode.

Step 4

Use the "+" key to cycle through program options until you reach the "Set Weight" function. Use the "Up Arrow" and "Down Arrow" keys to select your weight to the nearest 5 pounds. Press "Start/Enter" to input the weight.

Step 5

Us the "+" key to cycle through program options until you find the specific workout you want to use. Options include fat burning, interval training, flat track and hill running.

Step 6

Increase or decrease speed using the "Up Arrow" and "Down Arrow" buttons. Increase and decrease incline using the "+" and "-" keys.
