Movie-theater snacks don't have to be unhealthy. You have a wide selection of healthy snacks to choose from, with textures ranging from soft to crunchy, that you can find at your supermarket. You deserve to enjoy a fun and stress-free night with your friends watching a movie after a long day -- eating healthy, yet tasty snacks.

Fresh or Dehydrated Fruits

If you have cravings for something sweet, try grapes, cranberries, cherries or blueberries. These fruits have rich antioxidants -- vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin C -- and flavonoids. Antioxidants have properties that can fight free radicals -- highly reactive substances that can harm your cells. Flavonoids have antioxidant properties as well, and reportedly have antiviral, anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory properties. If you don't want to bring fresh fruits, you can substitute them with dehydrated fruits. Just remember that dried fruits don't have as many nutrients as fresh fruits have. Also, you can easily attain more calories from eating dried fruits because they have almost zero water content.

Pretzels

Unsalted pretzels make a healthy alternative to chips because they both have similar textures. If you want some salt, you can add it yourself and control the amount you want to add. Pretzels with enriched flour contain iron and B vitamins, particularly thiamine, riboflavin and niacin. These B vitamins play a role in turning food into usable energy; keeping your brain cells healthy; and supporting digestive, vision and skin health. Your body needs iron as well to support the transportation of oxygen to your tissues.

Whole-Wheat Cereals

You may want to substitute whole-wheat cereals for your cravings for chips. Whole-wheat cereals have more nutrients, such as calcium, which helps build strong bones; phosphorus, which aids in healthy bone development; B vitamins and iron. Whole-wheat cereals also contain more dietary fiber and have less saturated fat.

Homemade Popcorn

You can make popcorn into a healthy snack by adding less oil, butter and salt. Popcorn has rich contents of vitamin A, phosphorus and dietary fiber -- substances that add bulk to your feces, prevent constipation and provide you with the feeling of satiety.

Mixed Nuts

Dry-roasted, mixed nuts without salt make a healthy snack. Mixed nuts are excellent sources of dietary fiber, phosphorus, magnesium and folate. Your body needs magnesium to get your muscles to work, synthesize and transport energy, produce proteins and aid in the function of enzymes -- proteins that can do work for your body to keep you healthy. You also need folate for your body to produce healthy new cells.
