Triathletes spend hours each day training for their events, which takes a lot of energy. Triathletes need to consume effective supplements that will help them recover from rigorous training sessions. The best triathlete recovery supplements include protein and sources of amino acids to help repair muscles. The supplements should also contain carbohydrates to help refuel and restore glycogen storage.


Glutamine is an amino acid that helps your muscles recover from intense workouts. Glutamine also restores glycogen within the muscles. Triathletes train intensely. They perform multiple workouts per day, and if their bodies can't recover from training sessions, they won't improve their speed or stamina. Bob Seebohar, the director of Sports Nutrition of the University of Florida Athletic Association states, "Supplementation with 6 to 8 grams per day of BCAA and glutamine has been shown to decrease protein degradation during ultra-distance triathlon competition, decrease exercise induced muscle damage after prolonged running, and improve 40K cycling time trial performance." Powerbar Ironman Restore Powder is a recovery supplement made for triathletes. The powder contains 50 grams of carbohydrates per serving. The carbs help refuel glycogen storage, which aids in muscle recovery. Each serving has 8 g of protein. The protein help the triathlete's muscles recover and repair from previous training sessions. The mix of proteins and carbohydrates helps refuel and repair the muscles in the body, which aids in recovery. Endurox also contains potassium and sodium, which help promote hydration and prevent dehydration. Endurox should be consumed following a workout.
