Most men want to look physically fit and muscular. To achieve this, you need to be dedicated to an exercise regimen that will help you achieve maximum results. Many workout plans can be tailored to your specific interests, whether you want to bulk up or slim down. The key to success is implementing a routine you can follow and do so consistently.
Set Realistic Goals
Before embarking on a vigorous workout schedule, you should have clear goals in mind of what you want to achieve. If you want to lose body fat, stick to a healthy nutrition plan while incorporating aerobic exercise and strength training. If you want to bulk up with muscle, add lean proteins to your diet and incorporate weight training into your fitness routine. Be sure to allow yourself days of rest in between vigorous workout days to allow your muscles to rest and rejuvenate and to avoid an exercise burn out. Keep that mental image of a healthier, leaner, stronger version of yourself to keep you continuing your steps to success.
Strength Training
Strength training can be performed with free weights, weight plates and strength training machines. If you are more comfortable with one form of strength training equipment, you may choose to implement all of your weight training in this manner. Weight machines can be very convenient and easy to use, but if you wish to work out from the comfort of your home, free weights are much less expensive and easy to store. Begin with a low weight until you find a weight that challenges your strength level that you are able to complete a set of repetitions. Strength training can be performed every day as long as you do not work the same muscle group two days in a row. As your weight amount becomes easier to lift as you become stronger, be sure to increase the amount of weight used to ensure strength progression.
Aerobic Exercise
To help shed excess body fat and help your muscles stand out, aerobic exercise is a must. Aerobic exercise is not just for women. Most gyms offer a multitude of aerobic fitness equipment such as treadmills, stepping machines, recumbent bikes and elliptical machines. Or get some fresh air and go for a hike or jog around your neighborhood. Be sure to fit in aerobic activity at least 30 minutes a day five days a week.
Caution
Remember to stretch properly before and after a workout session. Before beginning a fitness regimen, consult your doctor to ensure that you are healthy enough for physical exercise. If any health conditions arise during or after a workout session, contact your health care provider immediately.
