Mari Winsor is a fitness expert and Pilates instructor. She opened her first pilates studio in LA in 1990 and, through her "dynamic sequencing" technique, is widely credited with making the toning and strengthening workout popular in America. Winsor runs two studios and has produced over 30 Pilates workout videos.

Mari Winsor: Pilates

This is Mari's original pilates workout DVD and suitable if you're just starting out providing a well-rounded overview of the technique and detailed explanations of the exercises. According to the GAIAM health and well-being website, the DVD includes two mat workouts to help you tone up from head to toe. Throughout both workouts, Mari offers modified exercises for beginners.

The Mari Winsor Slimming Pilates System

This set of four DVDs is tailored for beginner- to intermediate-level exercisers, and includes a number of tools, such as a weighted bar, a resistance cord that can be used in seven different ways, a wall chart, weight loss and eating guides and a tape measure. According to Winsor Pilates Fitness, this DVD can help you lose 10 inches in two weeks. However, That's Fit says a lot of the moves are the same as other Winsor videos, which may reduce the challenge for more experienced Pilates enthusiasts.

Winsor Pilates Ab Sculpting

This workout involves 20 minutes of ab-toning exercises, such as the hundreds, rolling like a ball and single-leg stretches. The video assumes a certain amount of Pilates knowledge and moves through the exercises at a reasonable pace, says Fitsugar. This is good if you have done Pilates before, but if you're new to the technique, it's best to brush up on the exercises with one of the beginner workouts, such as Mari Winsor: Pilates.

The Mari Winsor Pilates for Pink Workout

Not only does this workout help shape, tone and lengthen your muscles, it also helps you get fit for a good cause: $1 from every DVD sold is donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Over 52 minutes, this workout will help you tone all of the muscles in your body, but there is a particular focus on your core -- that is, the muscles in your stomach and lower back, notes GAIAM. Pilates for Pink will also help to improve your flexibility and you can make the exercises more challenging by using the resistance band that comes with the DVD.
