Wii Fit creates an innovative way for users to get exercise and have fun at the same time. Using a balance board, a remote controller and a virtual trainer who provides feedback, the Wii Fit coaches users through the different exercises. The Wii Fit tempts users to keep working out by periodically rewarding them with new exercises that can be unlocked only through continued work. At the beginning of play, you have access to only a few basic exercises in each of the four modules, but you can progress to advanced exercises with continued effort.
Yoga
When you use the Wii Fit for the first time, only four of the 15 yoga poses are available to you. These include Deep Breathing, Half-Moon, Warrior and Tree. You will be able to unlock the Sun Salutation after 10 minutes of yoga exercise. After 45 minutes of yoga, you will unlock the Standing Knee pose. Continue perfecting the available yoga poses to unlock the Palm Tree, Chair, Triangle, Downward Facing Dog, Dance, Cobra, Bridge, Spinal Twist and Shoulder Stand. It will take up to four hours of yoga to unlock the last yoga pose, the Shoulder Stand.
Strength Training
When you begin strength training exercises, only five of the 15 exercises are available to you. These include Single-Leg Extension, Push-up and Side Plank, Torso Twists, Jackknife and Lunge. After 10 minutes of strength training exercises, you will unlock the Rowing Squat and the Single Leg Twist. Work on strength training to steadily unlock the rest of the exercises, including Sideways Leg Lift, Parallel Stretch, Tricep Extension, Arm and Leg Lift and the Single Arm Stand. You will unlock the hardest of the exercises after four hours of training. Achieve a four-star rating on the basic Push-up and Side Plank, Parallel Stretch and the Jackknife exercises to unlock the three advanced challenges: Push-Up Challenge, Plank Challenge and Jackknife Challenge.
Aerobics
When you begin aerobics, four of the nine activities are available: Hula Hoop, Basic Step, Basic Run and 2-P Run. Thirty minutes of any aerobics exercise will unlock Super Hula Hoop, and an hour and 40 minutes will unlock Rhythm Boxing. Three sets of the Basic Step Aerobics will unlock Advanced Step, three sets of Advanced Step will unlock Free Step, and six sets of Basic Run will unlock the Free Run.
Balance Games
When you begin playing balance games, four of the nine games are available: Soccer Heading, Ski Slalom, Ski Jump and Table Tilt. After you play on the Wii Fit for 10 minutes, you will unlock your first new balance game, The Tightrope Walk. You will unlock the Balance Bubble after an hour's worth of playing time, the Penguin Slide after an hour and a half, the Snowboard Slalom after two hours and the Lotus Focus after three hours.
