The Best Way to Lose Weight in Your Face

Facial fat creates a look of fullness to your face, but it can also make your face look weighty and cause you to become self conscious. With exercise routines designed to tone your facial muscles, losing facial fat may look easy. The way to facial fat loss is total body fat loss. With diet and exercise, you will lose fat in your face as well as your entire body. Once fat loss has been achieved, exercises will build muscle to help your face look healthy.

Step 1

Drink plenty of water each day to remove toxins and help your body eliminate waste more efficiently. Eight to 10 glasses of water per day are essential to your weight loss efforts by flushing out your kidneys, preventing facial swelling from fluid build-up.

Step 2

Eat plenty of antioxidants and vitamin-enriched fruits and vegetables. Three to four servings of each per day will help you cut calories while providing a full feeling longer than sweets and processed snack foods. "Good Housekeeping" suggests keeping a bag of baby carrots or other fresh fruit or vegetables with you at all times during your day.

Step 3

Exercise no less than three times a week for at least 30 minutes per day. When you exercise, your body uses calories, increases your heart rate and builds lean muscle mass. In turn, facial fat is replaced by lean muscle.

Step 4

Avoid alcohol and increase sodium. Both cause facial swelling by prompting your body to retain fluids, making your face look fat and bloated. Alcohol is also higher in calories, which leads to fat formation and distribution.

Step 5

Eat calcium-rich foods such as cottage cheese or yogurt, suggests Good Housekeeping. USDA guidelines for calcium intake have been proved to help reduce overall fat loss when dairy was consumed at 1,200 mg. per day. Calcium is also helpful in preventing water retention in your face.
