Detoxifying body cleanses have grown in popularity as consumers become more aware of the effect their diet has on their health and state of being. The principal goal of undertaking a whole body cleanse is to rid your body of toxins that build up in your system over time. These toxins can enter into your body a number of ways, including as pesticides on fruits and vegetables and pollution in the air. Different cleansing diets restrict what you can eat to varying degrees, but there are generally accepted standards you can adhere to if you want to cleanse your body without going to an extreme.
Step 1
Eat organic food. The pesticides you'll find on fruits and vegetables are one of the most common ways toxins build up in your system. You don't want to eliminate these foods groups entirely, though--they provide essential vitamins and minerals to your body, contain high water content in many cases and provide the fiber needed to help toxins pass through your system.
Step 2
Eat all-natural dairy products like butter instead of products made from hydrogenated oils. Hydrogenated oils add toxins to your system.
Step 3
Drink juices, wines and green tea. Make sure the juices are all-natural, although they are acceptable if they are fortified with vitamins.
Step 4
Eat meats in moderation. All-natural meat is better, and eat chicken, pork or fish instead of red meat.
Step 5
Consume whole wheat products instead of foods made from processed white flour. Be aware that whole wheat and multigrain are much different--most multigrain foods are still made with processed flour.
