The treadmill is a common piece of fitness equipment that is found just about everywhere that people work out. Treadmills are in gyms, spas, clinics, home gyms and even the cardiologist office for stress tests. Treadmills offer an effective cardiovascular and lower body workout, as well as several other benefits.

Convenience And Reliability

For many people, the trip to the gym and wait for the machine is the worst part of the workout. If you get a treadmill for your home, all of those problems are a thing of the past. You don't even have to miss your favorite television shows if you don't want to. Treadmills are also a reliable way to exercise that has been tested every way imaginable and has stood the test of time.

Versatility

Modern treadmills, even the home models, are quite versatile in the variety of workouts they offer. Everyone in your family can exercise on a treadmill, no matter the difference in age or fitness level. With a treadmill you can increase or decrease the speed of the belt or the incline for a more or less intense workout. Many models also offer pre-programmed circuits and intervals to give you even more variety.

Any Weather Workouts

One of the main benefits of a treadmill is that you can go jogging or walking no matter what is happening outside. Walking or running in strong winds, rain or snow makes it difficult and unenjoyable in many cases. Some people will end up not going at all if the weather is poor, but with a treadmill the weather excuse is not applicable.

Quality Exercise

A safe, quality workout is what you are after, and a treadmill provides what you need. Some types of treadmill are poorly made, but if you find a common brand name that has a decent track record, you can be relatively sure the workout experience is a good one. The belts on many treadmills help to absorb shock as you walk and run, and the speed and incline features mean you can get the same intensity as running out on the road.
