Finding the motivation to lose weight is hard. There are so many temptations and circumstances that make exercising, eating healthy and changing your lifestyle seem nearly impossible. If you have the right motivation you have a greater chance for success. Innovative thinking and imagination along with focus and drive makes all the difference. In the long run finding ways to stay on task makes getting to where you want to go much easier.

Picture "This"

Take out your camera and snap a before picture. Don't worry about how you look this photo is personal. As you progress through your weight loss journey take more pictures along the way. Set small goals and when you reach a milestone have another photo session. Record the date on the back for future reference. When you feel discouraged or lose motivation take out the pictures, line them up and look back at where you started. The story that your photos creates allows you to truly see the changes you have made.

Social Networking

The use of social networking sites has grown. In fact, in 2010 over 400 million users are signed up on Facebook and Twitter is close behind at just over 100 million. Social networking sites such as these and many others provide a way to meet people that share common goals and interests. Meeting new people and sharing your weight loss successes is a way to stay motivated. When you have a support system you also have accountability and cheating on your diet or exercise plan is much more difficult.

Go Hi-Tech

Monitoring calories and tracking workouts is an arduous task. Sometimes you forget, other times you feel like it is a waste of time. To spice things up consider going hi-tech with your monitoring. Find weight loss websites or computer programs that have journaling tools that allow you to record what you eat and how much you exercise each day. These types of tools take the guesswork out of your weight loss and help you to stay on track.

Reward Yourself

Looking at the big picture if you have 20, 30 even 50 pounds to lose is hard. Instead of thinking months down the road take small steps and set attainable goals. Reward yourself for each milestone you pass. Whatever you chose as your reward whether it is something small or a larger purchase as you get closer to your goal, when you feel yourself slipping back into old habits or losing your motivation remember what you are working towards.
