Overview

Sweating is an essential bodily function that performs a number of functions, including cooling your body, conditioning your skin and removing toxins from the body. Used properly, it can also be a gimmick method of losing weight fast. This is most often used by athletes, such as wrestlers and boxers, who need to make a certain weight for competition. Sweating should not be used as a way to lose weight long-term--it can cause dehydration and other serious problems, and once you rehydrate your body, you'll gain all the weight back.

Step 1

Enter into a sauna for 15 to 30 minutes to force sweating and help you lose weight. The sauna will create a hot, humid environment that will promote sweating.

Step 2

Wear a sauna suit, sometimes called a sweat suit. Most of these are one-piece suits made of rubber, plastic or nylon, but some are two-piece suits.

Step 3

Work out for 30 to 60 minutes doing a cardiovascular workout that will accelerate your heart rate and make you sweat. Good workouts include running, bicycling or brisk walking.

Step 4

Avoid drinking water while in the sauna or while working out. This will put the weight back on that you lost through sweating.
