Although many make a big deal out of losing weight, easy weight-loss methods do exist, as long as you commit yourself to following them. These methods will not necessarily allow you to lose a large amount of weight in a short period of time, but they can result in sustained weight loss. The key remains to create a calorie deficit by burning more calories than you consume every day, as this allows your body to lose weight.

Diet

What you eat has a major effect on weight gain, as high-calorie foods will cause you to gain weight. On the other hand, high-fiber foods will make you feel fuller for longer, without adding additional calories to your diet. Include fruits, vegetables and whole grains, which contain high amounts of fiber, to your diet. Consume lean cuts of beef, fish and poultry, as well as fat-free dairy products.

Calorie Deficit

You must create a calorie deficit in order to lose weight, as your body will store any excess calories that you consume. This stored energy turns into fat and has a negative influence on your body composition. A calorie deficit of 500 per day will allow you to lose 1 lb. per week, which can lead to significant weight loss if you can accomplish this deficit week after week. Achieve a calorie deficit through a combination of diet and exercise.

Aerobic Exercise

Get the right amount of exercise each day to help you burn calories and lose weight. Simply walking each day will lead you to your goal. You must burn about 3,500 calories to lose 1 pound, which you can achieve by walking about 30 total miles or one mile each day over the course of a month. Walking two miles each day will burn twice as many calories, which will lead to even more weight loss.

Housework

Get more active around the house to help you lose weight. Moderate household activities like gardening can burn about 330 calories per hour. Vigorous cleaning activities, like scrubbing the floor, burn about 440 calories per hour. Helping out around the house on a consistent basis is a relatively easy way to lose weight because of the movement, pushing and lifting involved.
